Greetings!

Meet Mama Tokus - an entertaining and edifying, funky and funny singer, hostess and poetess who writes and sings nu soul, blues and R&B tunes (old, proper Ray Charles-style R&B, that is), nu-music-hall ditties and humorous (but always groovy) tunes – memorable originals and interpretations.

What the people say:

“Like Dr John in a three-way with Shirley Bassey and Eartha Kitt”

New records out

So now you can buy MixyMissTokus music in the shops, all proper like.

Simultaneously, you can buy vinyl and CD - thanks to a new single release on Spanish label Bubble Soul and a new CD compilation called In This House of Love mixed by Dimitri from Paris, out on Defected Records.

Say U Wannit, from The J&K Project is the fruit of the musical loins of MixyMissTokus and Joe Biddle, with production/remix work by the Stereo Mutants.

The tune sounds like music to swing vanity cases to, as you walk to your flight to Rio De Janeiro sucking on some Airwave chewing gum.

Say U Wannit's original mix sits alongside Incognito, Gato Barbieri, Grace Jones, Bob Sinclar, Sylvester, Black Box and many others on the triple CD (but be beware: the track doesn't appear on the vinyl release)

Here's some reviews of the single and CD:
"Set to take the scene by storm. Awesome stuff indeed."

"Bubble Soul's next journey takes us to the handy touch of Stereo Mutants. Over an original idea by Joe Biddle and the sweet vocal offered by Katie Tokus in the Original "Jazzy" mix, the mutants transmit it to the dancefloor through their two mixes: Floating Dub & Island Mix. No description better than the sound. Enjoy!"

"Strong Soulful latin house"

"What a fantastic compilation...2 discs mixed with god damn funky disco feel grooves....each track just flows and maintains a vibe!"
